Mafoko caught between music art

Unconditional love for both music and art has left the 20-year-old Tshepho Ditsebe with no option, but to divide his attention between the two.
Affectionately known as MFK in music circles, the young man from Serowe started his music career in 2008 while doing form one.
Mafoko grew up in Gaborone where his love for both music and painting burgeoned under the motswako genre.
He was inspired by Tuks in his song titled Mafoko.
The young artiste also followed the likes of Mo Molemi, Khulichana, Kendrick Lamar, as listening to their work fuelled his love for motswako music genre.
MFK produces his music in the country’s two official languages of Setswana and English, while some of his songs are written in Zulu.
Recently MFK dropped a single dubbed Ba Nxava Da, which has been dominating the air waves of the local radio stations.
However, the young artiste is not satisfied and is still asking for more as he is not convinced that his song was given enough air play.
“Most of my fans are downloading the song from the internet and watching the video snippet on Facebook,” he said in an interview.
He has also indicated that the actual shooting of the video will be completed in the near future.
He is managing and recording his music work with Bang/Gae while the single was produced with Young Black, EPIC, Juice Duece and Nephew.
He is promoted by 6 Pac promotions.
As for art, MFK is also busy producing paintings to augment his income.
“I enjoy my work both in music and art, and the two genres keep me busy and generate income for me,” he said.
He added that he plans to release a motswako album before the end of the year.
In future, the young man said he aspires to work with reputable artistes so that he can create a quality brand for himself in order to be able to penetrate the local and international markets.
The young star urged other aspiring artistes to focus and follow their dreams and have faith that they can do it.
“Above all, it is important to pray and have a positive mind-set and attitude and let God pave the way for whatever you are focused on,” he said. ENDS
