Music legends celebrate Botswana
02 Oct 2014
The Botswana Independence day celebrations culminated in style with a contemporary music legends festival.
Some local yester year contemporary musicians proved classic of their music and there was no doubt that these artistes were musically gifted. Many would concur with this, old school music is of top notch, be it the content or instrumental, artistes were determined and passionate about music then.
Many artistes performed at the contemporary music legends festival and it was evident from the audience that they missed those quality musical pieces they used to enjoy. 7ven-11, an old kwaito group which dates as far back as 1995, thrilled revelers with their then popular song mosokobanz.
Another kwaito group of early 2000, Da Vet Crew also brought memories to many when they took the stage and also T-Joint with track Chencha namba. Thrill was yet to come, it came a point where many people got excited, when one of the pioneers of the local gospel music, Mmereki Marakagoro descended the stage.
Performing to a live band, Mmereki fascinated many with his inspirational song dubbed eet-sum-mor. Another gospel maestro, Mpho Nakedi also saw the audience enjoying his music, singing along him.
The legends festival had an exciting line up, with the likes of Banjo Mosele, Clement Jackson, Alfredo Mos, Afro Sunshine, Franco, Ndingo Johwa and Myizer Matlhaku among others. Ends
