Thirty-one-year old Obakeng Mathiba, who manages Keimat Investments, a recording company based in Mmathethe, is determined to ensure that music artistes affiliated to his company get the best out of his work.

Mathiba told BOPA in an interview that artists will not only get the best and right exposure from his deals, but he will also go an extra mile to make sure the reputation of promoters is protected by doing the right thing.

A onetime performer and singer with Rhythm of Praise, a defunct gospel outfit, Mathiba could be what the doctor has ordered for aspiring artistes.

“I came in because of my penchant for music and wanted to save so much talent that is going to waste because artistes feel hard done by some promoters whom they accuse of giving them a raw deal,” he said.

He is disheartened by many talented artistes who have despaired along the way due to shady dealings at the hands of unscrupulous promoters; hence his collaboration with young budding talent around Mmathethe to promote their God given talent and help them cut music albums out of the finances accrued through shows.

“The arrangement that we have with my artistes is transparent because we use the finance accrued from music shows and other performances that we conduct during events such as weddings to cut CDs,” he said, adding that his company gives platform to promising artistes for them to showcase their music talent.

To be eligible, he says one has to register with them where they will now be subjected to scrutiny and if they satisfy set standards they will be absorbed into the Keimat Investments fold.

At the moment, Mathiba is in the process of cutting the album of Monametsi ‘Mdizo’ Thupane, a Kwaito/ Gospel artiste and one of the four artistes he presently manages.

The album is expected to be out before the end of the week and it has proved to be a craze to those who have had the privilege to watch ‘Mdizo’, he says.

He is adamant that albums for three others will follow suite. ENDS
