Fans of South African renowned Afro-Jazz legend, Ringo Madlingozi will, on September 19, party the night away to some Afro-Jazz tunes courtesy of Barclays @ Play and StreetThorn Promotions at Botswana Craft.

Speaking in an interview, Tumelo Mokowe of Barclays @ Play, which is a Barclays Bank Botswana social club, said the Afro-Jazz maestro will be supported by the Afro-Jazz trio of Shanti-Lo, Nnunu Ramogotsi and Kearoma Rantao.

He said the concert is aimed at promoting Botswana’s growing music talent by providing an opportunity for them to showcase their immense musical talent.

“Barclays @ Play is a platform established to promote social interaction among Barclays employees and it is a non-profit making entity that also promotes work life balance,” he said.

Speaking on the main act of the night, Mokowe said a concert by Ringo is not just a performance, but rather an intensely spiritual, rhythmic and healing journey that takes one on a lifetime experience.

“Ringo takes you with him on a unique journey of your own soul and through this experience the music heals you and assists your soul with some of the lessons that it was meant to take from this planet,” he said.

Mokowe said Ringo will captivate Afro-Jazz lovers and the concert should not be missed. Having started off his singing career back in 1986 when he won the Shell Road to Fame contest with his friends and fellow band members Peto, Ringo has gone on to achieve great things in his career.

Ringo remains a crowd puller and even up to today he is still a crowd favorite. Mokowe also spoke on the trio of Shanti-Lo, Nnunu Ramogotsi and Kearoma Rantao, and said the concert will be a kick start for their upcoming tour of Sweden and Germany.

“The trio is the cream of Botswana’s Afro-Jazz music genre and have all won awards in their own right and they will be touring those countries I just mentioned,” he said.

Mokowe further said after Ringo performs, the night will be closed off by none other than Team Distant. “They are a youthful based contemporary house music group comprised of four producers and have taken the music scene in Botswana by storm,” he said, adding that the culturally rooted quad takes pride in their Sesobiya language which they use in most of their vocals.

He indicated that tickets for the show go for P250 and are available at Botswana Craft. Ends
