The regional arts and culture office has urged artists and groups in the Kgalagadi south constituency to register business names in order for them to grow and meet both national and international standards.

The regional arts and culture officer in the department of Arts and Culture in Tsabong, Malebogo Mosala said in an interview that registering a business name was of great importance as it conferred boldness to one’s customers to do business with them.

“Registering a business name is an important step to ensure that customers make that meaningful connection with your business and brand, and are able to differentiate you from your competitors. When you register a business name, you allow for your customers to be able to access information about your products or services and about who is running the business they are dealing with,” she said.

Also, she said registering a business name was crucial as it helped to improve banking procedures as well as give one the platform to gain access to operate and transfer any transactions in and out of the business.

Furthermore, Mosala indicated that a registered a business name would granted the owner national protection, noting that when one’s name was registered, it prevented new competitors anywhere in the country, from later entering the market and using their name.

The process, she added also gave business owners the right to enter with confidence into the competitive business arena using their names hence creating higher chances of growth and success and in the long run eliminating possible chances of failure of the business.

Also, she noted that registration of a business name afforded one the chance to contribute to national economic development and prosperity via paying Value Added Tax.

She added that registered businesses also enjoyed government financial assistance aimed at promoting them via the Arts and Culture grant. 

Further, she noted that registering business names by artists showed seriousness and commitment towards their career.

However,Mosala said even though registering business names was important and of benefit to artists, many artists and groups in Kgalagadi south such as Gareng ga dithota have not yet registered their names. 

Thus, she advised them that even though registering a business name was burdensome and usually took long, they should exercise patience and register to results of their patience later. ENDS
