Sesinyi preaches good neighbourliness

Entrepreneur and founder of Corporate Interaction Communications Consultancy, Jacob Sesinyi says Batswana should continue to extend a helping hand towards the underprivileged.
Officiating at the fundraising dinner and the launch of a gospel music album for an upcoming South African artist at Boipuso Hall in Gaborone on September 6, Sesinyi said it was pleasing to note that some people were still holding tight to the spirit of good neighbourliness, which he said was one of the basic principles in the community.
He said the fact that the proceeds of the fundraising were going to be given to Botswana Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (BABA) to augment what they already had in their endeavours to construct their headquarters in Kopong was a good gesture which should be emulated by other people.
The songstress, Koliwe Mpaneng is fully sponsored by Chande Transport Tour and Enterprises owned and run by fellow South African Malakia Maseko, who made it possible for the album to be launched in Botswana and further made commitment that the proceeds should benefit BABS, which is under financial difficulties.
Sesinyi said the fact that Maseko, who is not a Motswana but had seen the need to assist disadvantaged Batswana, was a step in the right direction and should serve as a wakeup call for fellow Batswana.
He was also impressed by the local talent displayed by groups which performed.
He noted that this talent should be natured more especially that the songs which were sang were inspirational to many.
Koliwe’s album which is entitled Uyinkosi and have 10 songs has been well received as she was able to sample most of the songs found in it. Though most of the songs are in Zulu, the local backing vocalists and instrumentalists were able to sing the songs with ease despite the fact that they did not have much practice together.
This has led to Koliwe praising the singers saying it was impressive to see them singing in that language with complete easiness.
For his part, Maseko, who is also a philanthropist, noted he was distressed when he sees people struggling while there is help lying somewhere within.
He said while he is not politicking, he does not see any reason why reputable and well established businessmen in their localities cannot assist the needy who are also supporting their business one way or the other.
Maseko who formed and registered his company in 2007 and employs a sizable number of people, said he was happy that the launching of the album which was held in conjunction with fundraising dinner is a success and will benefit BABS.
He asserted that he was emotionally touched when he saw them on Botswana Television embarking on litter picking campaign and immediately communicated with Koliwe’s manager, Mr Pagson Ntsie that he should approach them so that he could lend a helping hand.
On other issues, Maseko said he was concerned that many musicians across the continent die paupers because during their hay days they do not manage their finances prudently. He advised artistes to engage managers who will take care of them in a professional way.
He said there is abundant artistic talent in Botswana which needs to be harnessed and nurtured for a good course without forgetting that those involved should earn a decent living from it.
In the meantime, the patron of BABS, Mr Taolo Moshaga who hailed Mr Maseko as a God sent Messiah, presented him with a trophy which is a token of appreciation for his good community job which he rendered to Batswana. ENDS
