This Saturday, August 30, will see prospective young beauty queens parading their stuff on the romp for the annual Miss Teen Universe Botswana beauty pageant.


The organisers of the pageant stated that their objective was to groom young women who were dedicated to making a difference by portraying themselves as ambassadors by upholding strong cultural and ethical values. Besides sourcing the fairest teen in the land, the pageant also hosts a number of charitable events.


Amongst others, on July 5 they hosted a successful charity event. The event was aimed at making a contribution to Batlang Support Group which has established an Orphan Care Programme to assist vulnerable children.


Miss Teen Universe Botswana therefore recognised the need to offer a helping hand and also make a contribution in support of the National Vision 2016 Pillar of a Just, Caring and Compassionate Nation.


Wandipa Gachala, one of the organisers of the pageant said that this year they started with a charity event where 25 girls competed and 15 girls were chosen as finalists and these 15 will be the ones competing for the crown this tomorrow.


She added that a distinctive feature of significance at this year’s event will be the cultural parade. ENDS

“This year, we will have a culture parade where the contestants will be showcasing their different cultural backgrounds and each girl will be representing her home village”, she says.


This event is growing every year and this has been by its pageants competing to the last stages at international podiums.

On December 14 last year, Miss Teen Universe Botswana crowned its first queen Judith One Kgwadi, who went on to represent Botswana at the International Miss Universe which was held in Nicaragua, Central America.

The Botswana queen of teens was crowned the second princess after United States of America and Canada.

Further, the International Miss Teen Universe Second Princess will crown her successor on the day, who will represent Botswana in Guatemala next year February. ENDS
