Police in Mochudi are investigating a case in which a 23-year-old man was recently stabbed to death with a sharp instrument at Kgope lands near Bokaa.
Assistant Superintendant. Wazha Zambezi said the young man was rushed to Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital where he was certified dead.
He said two men, a 21-year-old Motswana man and a 22-year-old Zimbabwean national were apprehended by the police in connection with the murder and they appeared briefly before Mochudi magistrate court to answer for the murder charges.
Asst Supt Zambezi further said the initial investigations had revealed that the trio could have gotten into a brawl at a drinking spot where the deceased was stabbed to death.
He said police were worried by the trend of such incidents, which happened mostly at cattle posts and villages surrounding Mochudi and urged employers to check their herdsmen at cattle posts.
Mr Zambezi said they had educated people on the dangers of fighting each other which could lead to grievous bodily harm or even death. He implored Batswana especially at cattle posts to deter from fighting and rather find amicable ways of dealing with misunderstandings.
Mr Zambezi further urged Batswana to hire foreign nationals with permits to avoid incidences where they might find themselves on the wrong side of the law. In another incident, Assistant Supt Zambezi said they were investigating a case in which thieves were suspected to have broken into a bar at Phaphane ward on Sunday evening and stole assorted beers amounting to more than P1 000.
He said no one had been arrested in connection with the robbery and asked Batswana to report any suspicious person in possession of suspected stolen goods. Ends
