26 Aug 2014
He has been in the music scene since 2002 and started as a member of an underground group, Low Saxon in Germany.
The Mochudi born and bred fellow, Tebogo Bobby Kanig-Palai also known as Starvilla, was motivated by Hip Hop music from the early 90s when he embarked on the musical journey. This is because most of the hip hop songs have a hidden message that he really appreciated.
Apart from music, Tebogo is a nurse in Germany and has dedicated his life to helping people because he believes that for one to prosper in life, they need to give back to the community.
Starvilla mentioned that in 2012, he was featured in music videos were he got interested in electro sounds and that gave him the idea of including electro in his music.
In 2013, he started pursuing his musical dream as a solo artist. In the same year, the artist released two tracks “Way to the Top”, together with its video and “Don’t give up.” Both songs got airplay in most of the radio stations.
The artist then released his latest track, Back to life. The motive behind the track was opening a new chapter in his music life. He says his songs are mostly about life and every day encounters.
“What makes me and my music unique is that my lyrics explore issues of self-motivation and hope and inspires the youth”, he said. The artist’s music is a fusion of Hip Hop oldies with a blend of Tswana Motswako and mostly targets the youth.
He expresses himself through song and his music is raving in radio stations in Germany and is trickling down to local radio station. Starvilla is one Hip Hop act to watch and he is certainly climbing the musical ladder.
His message to his audience is, ‘’never give up on whatever you want to do and no matter how hard it is or how long it takes, do not count how many times you fall, because the most important thing is to get up one more time and follow your dream”, he says. Ends
