She had humble beginnings of operating one of the few modelling Agencies in Botswana in a car.

Through persistence, passion and thrive, Queen Kolobe of the Madam Queen Modelling Agency was destined for stardom. A mother and a wife to be,  Kolobe over less than a decade ago had a vision to transform the fashion and modelling industry in Botswana.

She is a woman of many talents, a fashion guru, a stylist, and one of the women who unearths raw talent from young Batswana to catwalk the ramps including being the pioneer of Miss Junior Botswana.

Madam Queen, as she is affectionately known said she always loved modelling, as a young girl herself, at the age of seven, she was already interested in the industry and ascended with passion as she grew up.

“I have always been interested in modelling from a young age and I feel that this desire has brought me to this path which I really enjoy doing as a hobby and also as a profession,” she said.

The lady in question, is also a member of the newly formed Botswana Fashion Association, and has mentored and nurtured a lot of models in Botswana.

She recently groomed Kesegofetse Senna, a male model who won the Presidents Day Competitions 2014 and is now in Canada.

Through her determination to make it in the international market, Madam Queen said that her nine years of hard work were finally paying off and she was ready to conquer the world.

In addition, she mentioned that though the fashion and modelling industry in Botswana is still growing, she commended the government and Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture (MYSC) for their immense recognition of this industry.

“Though, I do not have a lot of sponsors I would like to point out the good work that MYSC is doing, because now they support a lot of local fashion designers and models and also through the President’s Day Celebrations, Batswana children whom have a lot of talent and potential are being recognised,” she said.

Kolobe stated that she was now well equipped, more determined than ever to raise the Botswana flag and tap into the international market.

She said it was high time Batswana know that there was a life inside the fashion and modelling industry.

The poised and soft spoken Madam Queen said when not scouting talent she spends the day home with her two-year-old daughter relaxed and watching television.

Queen Kolobe is no stranger to the world of glitz and glamour and surely one of the brave women in Botswana who will showcase that indeed Botswana has beautiful women not only the likes of Emma Wareus and Kaone Kario, but professional models born and bred from this country who can also walk the New York, Milan and London ramps.
