Kearoma to ignite BotswanaCraft

07 Aug 2014

Come evening of Friday, August 8 , the BotswanaCraft will be buzzing with the latest offering of the Mascom Live Sessions featuring Andy Narrel and Louis Mhlanga, alongside Kearoma Rantao.

Speaking in an interview, co-owner of BotswanaCraft, Oliver Groth said the event will be a nice, small and tidy affair. “Kearoma Rantao will be performing with her live band and we will also have Andy Narrel from New York and Louis Mhlanga from Zimbabwe performing too along with their other band mates,” he said.

He indicated that Kearoma was set to arrive back in the country either on August 7 or August 8 from the Afrim Awards, but she will definitely grace the event. Oliver further said Andy is a renowned steel pan player and has played all over the world with different artists.

“He was recently involved in a worldwide musical project dubbed, Playing for Change and his musical instrument of choice is not very common,” he said, adding that the steel pan is a similar instrument to marimba but instead uses steel. Steel pans are a set of steel pans and tuned together,” he said.

He also said Louis is also an amazing guitarist and people will be greatly impressed by the man from Zimbabwe, adding that Louis is one of the first artists to play at Botswana Craft when it was still in its infancy.

“Andy and Louis will arrive in Gaborone tomorrow and they will be well rested for the evening event,” he said. Oliver indicated that tickets go for P200 in advance and they are anticipating a small and intimate crowd. “It will not be your typically full packed type of event and it will be a relaxed environment,” he said.

He urged people to come on time for the event. ENDS
