BDF sings for charity in Maun

24 Jul 2014

The Botswana Defence Force (BDF) 2 Infantry Brigade charity concerts were held successfully at Maun Senior Secondary School hall recently.

Maun residents were serenaded with instrumental renditions of classic songs such as Michael Bolton’s When a man loves a woman.

The soldiers proved that they are still a force to reckon with as they rendered live performances, performing songs such as Mosadi wa chobolo, which made the audience rise to their feet and dance the cold night away.

The entertainment continued at Sedie Riverside Hotel where the singing soldiers held a jazz festival, which was meant to target a different audience.

In an interview, the BDF public relations officer, Captain Bokang Gaobotse said it was the first time for them to embark on a project of such magnitude.

Captain Gaobotse also said for the first time, the live band combined with the choir as the backing vocalists, something which he said was a successful experiment.

He said he felt the attendance at both events was fair, adding that the proceeds were for charity, and they have liaised with the Social and Community Development office in the Northern districts to select the beneficiaries.

Prior to the concerts, the BDF held a family wellness day at Maun Sports Complex to raise awareness about different diseases and conducting tests. ENDS
