Moshe releases debut album

16 Jul 2014

Thirty-four-year-old, Moses Tshwang, who goes by the name Moshe in music circles, has released a debut album titled Molekane.

The multi-talented Moshe, who is based in Maun, is a true testimony that one could make ends meet even without attaining a higher level of qualification.

Although he did not perform well in his Junior Certificate (JC) examinations at Tonota Junior Secondary School (CJSS) in 1992, he never gave up and pursued his passion for photography.

His grandmother, who was his guardian, passed away when he was still at a tender age but that did not dissuade him as he developed his passion for photography to earn a living.

Moshe was trained by an acquaintance from Zimbabwe at some stage, who realised that he was skillful in photography. Through that acquaintance, he was offered training and also a job at Chobe Enterprises in Kasane.

After a while, he left working for Chobe Enterprises and relocated back to Maun where he ventured into self-entrepreneurship as a freelancer.
The business flourished and ultimately he registered his company, Rulers Investment three years ago, which deals with taking pictures and videos as well hiring a music system at wedding functions.

He once applied for a youth grant and was not successful but never gave up.

It was through his business at wedding functions that he realised a niche in the music industry, but he took time to refine himself before he could release his album.

Moshe’s debut album, Molekane, recorded at CMD Records in Maun offers upbeat and soothing tunes for the wedding functions with love lyrics with his fabulous voice encouraging married couples to stay in love. “I have been doing beats at wedding functions and realised people enjoyed my singing, then I decided to release an album with wedding songs to complement my existing business,” he said.

The hit track, Babe, says people in love should do the little things that keep the spark alive like kissing to enrich their relationships.

As for track three Ntumele, it is a an advise to women to be good to men when they propose love for they will never know who will marry them.

The title track Molekane, however is a sad piece dedicated to the artist’s late brother who passed away four months ago.
Moshe said his brother, who traded by the name DJ Small, was more of a friend and a business partner, adding his loss through a car accident really affected him.

“He was a professional DJ and I lost a mate, a brother and most of the business equipment,” he said.
The album has six tracks, and the backing vocalist is an upcoming artist Ras Décor Muller and the album reception was impressive in Maun in his first promotions.

However he said it was not easy as he has to use money from his wedding functions business to sponsor the album circulation. ENDS
