Kearoma readies for AFRIMMA

07 Jul 2014

It was easy to see that everyone who braved the winter chill headed for Mogopong hall at Botswana Craft.

Everyone had one thing in mind: Get the festival menu.

Like her indicative theme for the night, people wanted to be up close and personal with Kearoma Rantao who chose a little more confined and cuddly venue to go with the theme.

And they soaked it all in. Who would not Kearoma’s very fine afro jazz sounds? Equally endearing was her always in sync band and back-up singers.

She has always had a way of captivating her fans with her infectious melodies and outstanding showmanship; and she did not disappoint as she swayed to the rhythmic sounds of her music.

Then she got everyone on their feet as she again harnesses her hallmark vibe in performing “A Woman’s Cry”, an abstract from her renowned album “When The Music Plays”.

She followed up with another set of jazz grooves that her fans absolutely loved to pieces.

Notably in attendance was Kearomas’ fellow minstrels, Nnunu Ramogotsi and Shanti-Lo.

The afro jazz queen, who has been wowing her fans with scintillating sounds for some time now, is set to leave for USA.

She and her compatriot Zeus have been nominated for the Africa Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) which will be the first award ceremony set for July 26t at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas.

Kearoma has been pitted in a nominee category for “best female Southern Africa” against the likes of Lira, Zahara and Toya Delazy.

AFRIMMA will create a platform that promotes the diversity of African music by bringing influential artists from different African countries for a night of celebration. ENDS
