A  32-year-old man appeared before Kanye Magistrate Court on a single count of corruption in respect of official transactions contrary to Section 25(1) as read with Section 42 and punishable under Section 36 of the Corruption and Economic Crime Act (Cap 08:05), Laws of Botswana.  

Investigations conducted by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC), revealed that on December 16, 2010 in Good Hope, Tefo Matong being employed as an assistant physical planner corruptly abused his office by offering to accept for himself a valuable consideration of P2 000 in cash, in order to fast track the approval for the application of a proposed construction plan and change of land use.

The accused person was arraigned on June 4 and a plea was reserved on the matter until the next appearance set for July 23. 

Ms Tirelo of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) appeared for the state while the accused person represented himself. ENDS
