A five-track album by Tabona Nkamogelang is the latest to be added to the many albums already in the streets.
The album, which features hit track Tla re re meme, has sold 200 copies since May 2014. Other tracks include; Matlhogo tshweu, Monna wa mme, Malome, and Mmamosadi.
The 25-year-old young man, who hails from Ditshegwane in the Kweneng District but currently based in Francistown, has released an interesting album titled Borankana vs. House Volume I that will be launched this month.
Nkamogelang said the album was a fusion of house genre and traditional music, with each song recorded in two versions of the said genres. His first break in the music industry came in 2010 when he met with a producer from the Bon-Fella Records also based at Francistown.
He was persuaded to take his love for music and songwriting further into the studio to record with the company after he had been invited to perform at multiple functions.
“We can use our culture in different ways including new ways, that is why I recorded versions of house in my album,” said the proud and ambitious artist.
He stated that he was a good Christian, therefore intended to use his music to draw the youth to God by recording another unique fusion of gospel genre with traditional dance music in his next album.
“I also used to be a traditional music dancer and I want to encourage the youth to respect extra-curricular activities at school as they can discover their intended destiny there,” said Tabona. Ends
