UCCSA festival impresses audience

21 Apr 2014

Swaneng school hall was filled to capacity with choral music enthusiasts during the UCCSA music festival in Serowe recently.

The festival started with a low note but as more choirs came in dressed in their beautiful outfits, the festival gained momentum. Mogoditshane choir led by conductor, Kagiso Lesolobe, nearly brought the roof down as it gave a splendid performance which kept everybody on their feet.

Dressed in German print skirts and multi coloured tops, and men in blue jeans and white tops the choir delivered exactly what the festival needed, a boost.

Moeding choir also did not want to be left behind as they sang their lungs out, also registering their name in the good books of the audience as they sang Tshipi tsa efangele hymn. Broadhust choir also displayed a spectacular performance.

The choir which seemed to have a good number of vocalists also kept the crowd begging for more. Another choir which also did not disappoint its audience was the Trinity choir.

It did a marvelous job and reminded many that Botswana has got talent. The Gaborone- based choir which also has good vocalists and conductors gave the audience a worth for their money.

Speaking at the officiall opening of the festival, music specialist , Onthatile Saboi said music needs someone who is dedicated, time responsive and well behaved.

Saboi said people should use their minds and understand music by listening to those giving advice on music. He said it was very clear that singing is a progressive routine that emerged from the time chemistry started working on human body.

He said there was always rhythm and choreography, even when a person is walking.  Saboi noted that singing to God is not about pleasing oneself and wanting to prove to somebody that they can sing and have a voice.

“When rendering your music in spirit, you are sure that your music is going to change someone’s life by being an answer,” Saboi said, addding that  music was meant to touch someone’s life by making one to surrender their life to Christ. Ends
