Bokaa group wins Chibuku talent search

30 Mar 2014

A quartet of Bokaa men in the Kgatleng District has become first winners of Chibuku Road Fame Talent Search scooping the P100 000 prize money.

At the grand finale staged at the Francistown stadium on Friday March 28, the group, which went by the stage name: Luke Lucas Klaas outsmarted the other five groups of the finalists in the talent search.

Doing their Kwasa Kwasa dance and song in their matching outfit, the Kgatleng group was the fourth to take to the stage to perform with the aim of impressing the four member judging panel under the watchful eye of auditors from Mazars Consultants.

The Luke Lucas Klaas scored 271 points beating their runner up comedian Oefile Mokgware from Gabane who had the crowd laughing their lungs out with his funny stories.

The Gabane youngster scored 265 points to grab the P50 000 runner up prize money. Coming third in the competition and walking away P25 000 pula richer was Onthusitse Tsopane group based in the host city which did the 60s dance.

Although the grand finale attracted large crowds, it seemed they enjoyed sipping on their Chibuku more than performances on stage. As if that was not enough, spectators started leaving when power went off before the last three finalists boarded the stage.

Only a few remained at the barrier fence waiting to see the main act Dan Tshanda of Splash. Tshanda, who also made up the judging panel, was slated to wrap the acts after Mapetla of Skhokho fame opened the performances followed by Wizards and Charma Gal.

An official from Botswana Breweries Limited (BBL), Tsaone Semausu, however assured the crowd of an improved and more organised next competition.

Semausu indicated that the search was going to be an annual event which will give those who did not make it this year another bite at the cherry. Ends
