Vision 2016 is national project

17 Mar 2014

Vision Council acting coordinator, Mr Edwin Ramothwa says communities must play part in actualisation of Vision 2016.

Addressing Ghanzi full council meeting recently on the developments and preparations to host the Vision 2016 awareness month launch, Mr Ramothwa said Vision 2016 was not a government project but a national task.

He said Vision 2016 was for all citizens, hence the need to take it to communities. Vision 2016 awareness month is hosted every September in various districts, and this year the launch month activities will be in Tsootsha in Ghanzi district.

Launching in various respective districts, Mr Ramothwa said was a way of stimulating ownership, internalisation of the vision and reminding all stakeholders what was expected of them.

He said the launch also afforded them as a council to inform communities on progress made on the pillars as well as address challenges experienced.

Although Vision 2016 is regarded a national project, it has proved that Batswana knew about its existence but most did not know how to implement it.  Ghanzi district Council Secretary, Mr Nelson Molepolole said in an interview that communities needed to be sensitised about the Vision as it has proved that they were aware of its existence but did not know what it meant.

Mr Molepolole said his district has engaged leadership such as Village Development Committees and the Dikgosi in a dialogue workshop as a way of sensitising them and eventually getting the message to the communities.

He said they were continuing with efforts to conduct workshops and hold meetings to sensitize the community. Vision 2016 awareness month launch will be held in Tsootsha in Ghanzi district from August 29 to 30. Ends
