Kgatleng region education office has rewarded high performing employees for ensuring excellence in the 2013 Primary School Leaving Examination and BGCSE results in the district.

Speaking during the award ceremony on Thursday, March 13, Motor Vehicle Accident Fund, chief executive officer Mr Cross Kgosidiile commended those who made the achievements possible, both teachers, students and non-teaching staff saying their excellence continued to make the nation proud.

He congratulated Molefhi Senior School for taking a giant and commendable leap, which saw them attain position 18 from 29 last year in the BGCSE results. Phaphane Primary School and Linchwe II Junior Secondary School scooped position one in the region.

He said government, through the Ministry of Education and Skills Development continued to invest billions of pula on education, “however financial resources alone cannot guarantee us quality education and achievement.”

Mr Kgosidiile advised that these resources needed to be deployed diligently in order to achieve the desired results.

The awards were held under the theme: inspired, excelling students and staff, the key to unlocking limitless opportunities.

Thus he said the theme was a true cardinal statement that gave hope adding that improvement in performance never occurred in the absence of effective school leadership and parental guidance.

The director of regional operations, Sir Wonder Masebola said the purpose of excellence awards was to reward those who have attained high performance in the region.

He said when he came to Kgatleng region he realised that the results were below par coupled with the low morale of teachers.

In order to build a winning team, he explained that he established what the problem in the region was.

“Today, we are here to reward those men and women who have distinguished themselves among others from the messenger to the most senior post to thank them for the job well done.”

Sir Masebola concluded that with strategies they have put in place, they have no reason not to perform and get outstanding results. ENDS
