DPS applauds outstanding health workers

The acting deputy permanent secretary for clinical services in the Ministry of Health, Ms Thandie Kgosidintsi has congratulated health personnel for outstanding performance in their different cadres.

Speaking during the Mahalapye District Health Management Team (DHMT) achievement awards ceremony in Mahalapye on Thursday March 6, Ms Kgosidintsi said the awardees had served with selflessness and graciousness in their line of work for health care provision.

She said through hard work, integrity and ingenuity they set the tone for more hard work yet to come. Ms Kgosidintsi said the Ministry of Health aspired to be a model of excellence in quality health services.

She said in as much as the nation decried lack of commitment by some health personnel, there was need for the Ministry of Health to continue identifying best performers as there were many men and women who dedicated their lives to the noble course of serving communities, including in the remotest parts of the district.

To that end, she applauded the 35 men and women for outstanding performance which ensured five special awards for DHMT management and the service elements within Mahalapye District Hospital. It was such performance that contributed to the facility attaining a pre-entry certificate into accreditation, she said.

Ms Kgosidintsi urged them to continue with uplifted morale and energy to work thoroughly to overcome challenges and achieve vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation. She also hailed the management for hosting the event saying in recognition awards motivated to staff to continue with the good work.

“The staff is motivated to enhance productivity and achievement of targets,” she said. Ms Kgosidintsi also encouraged the staff as a whole to continue the good work saying the awards bring healthy competition as everyone would strive to be recognised as a star performer.

In giving the objectives for the day, the hospital manager, Ms Boingotlo Matlho said awardees were selected for their hard work, enthusiasm, dedication and remarkable professional etiquette towards attainment of best quality health care service delivery.

Other awards went to the best programme and project in the DHMT which significantly contributed to the DHMT efforts to attain its strategic key results areas.

Also recognised for good progress were three facilities in Mahalapye DHMT which have been undergoing quality accreditation since 2009. Ms Matlho said the quality accreditation process entailed facility meeting international set standards and ensuring that the quality of health care was maintained.Ends
