Jwaneng Mine employees have encouraged students at Ghanzi Senior Secondary School to take their education seriously.
Jwaneng Mine employees, through their social club called Diamond Giants, donated school uniform to needy students at Ghanzi Senior Secondary School over the weekend.
The public relations officer for Diamond Giants, Mr Emmanuel Bentu, said the circumstances of some students hindered their learning. He however urged the students to focus on their education because their future depended on it.
Ms Dikeledi Leshope, a teacher at Ghanzi Senior Secondary School, encouraged the students to realise that it was not their choice they lived through unfortunate situations. Despite poverty, the students must work hard to lead better lives in future.
Ms Leshope said 80 per cent of the students at Ghanzi Senior Secondary School were needy, and they received assistance from the district council. She said the donation by Diamond Giants raised the Vision 2016 ideal of a compassionate, just and caring nation. However, only 14 students benefited from the donation. Ends
