Mahalapye Sub-district Japanese Embassy partner

05 Mar 2014

Mahalapye Sub-district has entered into a developmental partnership with Japanese Embassy.

Speaking during the official opening of the sub council meeting  on March 3, council chairperson, Mr Moatshe Senai said Japanese Embassy has offered Mahalapye Sub-district a grant worth P243 000 for the electrification of seven primary schools.

The Japanese, he said, would have an input into the developments of Mahalapye saying the schools to be electrified were of Moshopa, Ngwapa, Mmutlane, Kudumatse, Bonwapitse, Mosolotshane and Mmaphashalala.

Mr Senai said the partnership was a good gesture as the sub-council had been experiencing setbacks in the electrification of primary schools facilities due to budgetary constraints. Also, he said Mahalapye Sub District has benefitted from the primary school backlog eradication programme to the amount of P41 million.

He said the projects to be undertaken comprise of 14 classrooms, 54 pupils’ water borne toilets, 32 staff houses and four staff toilets to be implemented in the primary schools of Moralane, Otse and Kodibeleng.

He said pre-construction activities were on-going and implementation was due to start later this month. ENDS
