KFC Add Hope campaign feeds children

05 Mar 2014

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) brand manager, Mr Thabo Ntseoane has commended Batswana for their support in the KFC Add Hope campaign.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign at the SOS village in Francistown on March 2, Mr Ntseoane explained that the campaign, which is in its fourth year in the country, was aimed at raising funds that would be used to feed hungry children.

He said it started in December last year and to date they had managed to raise P105 626 through the P2 contributions donated by customers who came into their eateries to enjoy their products.

Through the add hope campaign, a corporate social responsibility programme, which was an all year round initiative aimed at providing nutritious meals to children who are in out of home care set ups, they identified the beneficiaries to be Child Line in Gaborone, Botswana Baylor Children’s Clinical Centre of Excellence Teen Club also in Gaborone and Francistown SOS children village.

He also added that through this initiative, they wanted to fight hunger by providing meals to children through sustainable partnerships with local charities serving disadvantaged members of the community, especially children.

Appreciating the gesture, SOS village director, Mr Boniface Kwelagano said their relationship with KFC started last year, when they were given household allowance worth P7 000 per month geared towards a monthly feeding scheme for two houses in the village.

He noted that they welcomed the support as it was an inevitable basic want and a core need for developmental stages for children and more especially that these monthly contributions account for 12 per cent of their monthly feed budget.

And with SOS International calling for self-sustainability, such aid from other stakeholders such as KFC, it will help reduce the pressure of seeking funds to add to the unguaranteed support grant that they receive from the mother body. ENDS
