Ntsima reaffirms community engagement commitment

03 Nov 2026

Government is working tirelessly to ensure residents access services despite economic pressures.

Addressing residents of Area S in Francistown on Friday, during a community consultative meeting to reaffirm the importance of listening to the people and keeping them informed, MP for Francistown East, Mr Tiroeaone Ntsima said shortage of medicines in health facilities was due to supply challenges as Botswana manufactured none and depends on external manufacturers.

He said government now purchased in bulk although the country’s small quantities put it at a disadvantage.

Mr Ntsima also shared President Advocate Duma Boko’s efforts to attract investment, strengthen international partnerships and open new markets to stimulate economic recovery, create jobs and ease the cost of living.

He said his commitment was to serve, listen, account and act, adding that he would continue engaging communities, championing their concerns and ensuring that their voices translated into meaningful action and improved service delivery.

Mr Ntsima cautioned residents against drug abuse and child negligence, urging them to report any such cases to the police without hesitation.

Assistant tribal secretary, Ms Boatametse Samuel, informed residents that registration fees for debt cases at the Customary Court had increased from P50 to P150, payable upon reporting the case.

She explained that the P150 would be paid by the debtor upon conclusion of the case, meaning the complainant would be paid the money once the case succeeded.

Francistown City Council principal parks and recreation officer, Mr Samuel Kwape, appealed to residents to take care of the cemetery, keep it clean and to handle tombstones with care.

He encouraged those who could erect tombstones to do so, since that made identification easier. ENDS
