Tawana Park to become First Park

05 Mar 2014

The Gaborone City Council has granted First National Bank (FNB) Botswana permission to renovate Tawana Park as part of the bank’s  corporate social responsibility initiative (CSI).

The park, located in Broadhurst, will be rebranded First Park, and is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

“We are thrilled to be nearing completion of the renovation of Tawana Park. Community development and infrastructural improvement are dear to us at FNB in our role as corporate citizens at both an individual and organisational level,” said the bank’s marketing and communications director, Ms Bomolemo Selaledi.

Ms Selaledi said Tawana Park shall henceforth be known as First Park. She added that the project forms part of the work of the FNB Foundation, the bank’s CSI vehicle. The FNB Foundation was established to ensure a concerted CSI effort across the business since its inception in 2001.

Through the FNB Foundation, the bank is dedicated to continuing its long history of social responsibility and is actively involved in the communities within which it operates. FNB sets aside one per cent of its profit after tax on an annual basis.

The bank has also supported various welfare projects  over the years within the health, education and environmental spheres. The newly refurbished First Park is expected to be officially unveiled in April 2014. ENDS
