Govt moves to clear Omang backlog

Batswana facing delays in obtaining Omang cards could soon receive relief, with government expecting to clear the backlog within the next two to three weeks.
In an interview with in Gaborone, Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Major General Pius Mokgware, said nearly half of the 45 000 cards required to address the backlog had already been produced.
He said the progress was expected to restore the normal 14-day waiting period following delays caused by shortages of cards and staff.
Major General Mokgware urged Batswana, who received collection notifications through SMS, to collect their cards promptly. ENDS
