Sankoyo submit required documents to BFA

Sankoyo Bush Bucks Football Club has submitted the required documents to the Botswana Football Association (BFA) following the postponement of all its league fixtures over non-compliance with domestic club licensing requirements.
The First Division North League Management Committee postponed the club’s scheduled fixtures after issues arose from its application for a domestic club licence for the 2026/2027 season.
In an interview, club chairperson Edson Thiya said management had worked round the clock to address the matter after receiving communication about the postponement.
He explained that the licensing issue stemmed from an outstanding payment dispute involving four players dating back to the club’s time in the Premier League.
“We owed them over P200,000, and our club is struggling financially, hence the delay in paying them,” he said.
Thiya said the club had reached an agreement with two of the players after making partial payments and agreeing on payment plans to settle the outstanding balances.
However, he said the other two players rejected the club’s offer, although management remained hopeful that ongoing negotiations would yield an amicable solution.
He urged supporters to remain calm, expressing confidence that the club would overcome its financial challenges and return to the field.
Thiya said the club was now awaiting a resolution from the BFA following the submission of the requested documents.
So far, Sankoyo Bush Bucks have played two league matches against newly-promoted Mosetse and Tutume Rangers football clubs, sharing the spoils in both encounters. ENDS
