07 Nov 2026
Botswana will be hosting the Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA) for the first time in May.
In an interview, AUSC Region 5 CEO Stanley Mutoya, said the main objective of RASA was to honour athletes, coaches, administrators, media, and teams from Region 5 nations.
Meanwhile, the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 has commenced a series of statutory meetings in Livingstone, Zambia, bringing together representatives of its 10 member states to assess organisational performance during 2026, review progress in implementing the Region's Strategic Plan and plan for the year ahead.
Taking place from November 5 to 13, the meetings serve as statutory planning and reporting platforms through which the organisation's various structures assess progress against established strategic objectives, review implementation challenges and consider plans and resource requirements for 2027.
The meetings have brought together specialised Commissions responsible for Women in Sport, Sport for People with Disabilities, Budget, Finance, Risk and Legal Affairs, Physical Education, Sports Development and Recreation, Marketing, Business Development and International Relations, Human Resources, Education and Training, High Performance, and Governance, Audit and Ethics.
