Chiefs claim bragging rights
12 Oct 2026
The marquee match week five fixture between Mochudi Centre Chiefs and rivals, Township Rollers have ended with the Kgatleng giants getting the valuable three points and all the bragging rights on offer.
Gilbert Baruti and Mpho Kgaswane scored for Chiefs, while Bakang Seboko netted the consolation goal for Rollers.
But it was nonetheless the ‘brand paradigm’ by the host team in Chiefs that had lasting memories and proved that indeed local football is attractive and carries significant commercial, cultural and market value if professionally packaged.
Cognisant of the fact that such a high-stake fixture draw jam-packed crowds, electric atmospheres and massive media interest, Chiefs administration put up a glamour-meets-sport ethos befitting the football on display.
The game was not just as 90 minutes of football, but was a full package of entertainment form cultural events featuring fan choreography, lifestyle integration and high-visibility marketing.
On offer was more than just a star-studded exhibition of football that re-ignited yesteryear rivalry.
It was rather a spectacle that fused football with music line-up from pre match and half-time appearances by Culture Spears and Charma Gal to renditions of Sekgatla songs led by MC Gofa.
Nonetheless, within the 90 minutes of football, the tempo was relentless, the action gripping and the momentum shifting from end to end, though the home side was dominating.
Chiefs’ general manager, Owe Mmolawa revealed that they placed immense pride in delivering a highly polished, commercially successful football spectacle.
“Mochudi Centre Chiefs always strive for professionalism and has the capability to generate a massive, well-packaged spectacle during showpieces like we did during our Saturday fixture. We take pride in the fact that the entire administration always puts an effort in packaging Mochudi Centre Chiefs as a brand that would appeal to all stakeholders,” Mmolawa said.
