Education hub markets scholarship

Students have been advised to aim at benefitting from the top achievers scholarship programme.
The head of marketing and communications, Mr Oarabile Phefo, for Botswana Education Hub explained that they were encouraging students to work hard to qualify for these scholarships to afford gifted students an opportunity to study with the best institutions.
Mr Phefo said this at the recent first Botswana tertiary education fair road show in Kasane on Saturday, March 1. “We have identified about four students in Kasane who might qualify for this programme and are using this platform to talk to junior school students about the existence of this scholarship,” Mr Phefo explained.
“Between the months of June and July, we will have a top achievers scholarship road show, travelling across the country marketing the programme as well as bringing junior students on board, “ he said.
The road show will also include Nata Senior Secondary School, where most Kasane students were admitted to, alongside students from junior schools from Chobe. Top achievers scholarship was formulated for students who did exceptionally well in form five or equivalent, with between four to six A stars or better.
“The students are sent outside in for A-levels Australia, Britain or USA or pre-university courses to make them more competitive with others for the best courses at the best institutions around the world such as Cambridge and the Oxford,” Mr Phefo added.
The head of Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) Ms Faith Tuelo said they brought the first Botswana Tertiary education fair road show to Chobe district as Kasane is far from most educational centers.
She said the objective was to create maximum awareness and educate Batswana about the programmes and courses offered at tertiary and vocational education system, as well as engaging parents to play a part in children’s education.
Ms Tuelo was happy with the turn out and even more impressed that parents also showed up for the event. This will be made an annual event to ensure ‘education for all’ while reaching the width and breadth of Botswana. ENDS
