Ministry attends to road
03 Mar 2014
Parliament was told that, as a temporary measure, an in-house grader has been dispatched to Mohembo and its surrounding areas to attend to severely affected sections of Mohembo/Gudigwa Road.
The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Johnny Swartz said he was aware that due to the current heavy downpours, it was difficult for traffic to pass at some sections of Mohembo/Gudigwa Road due to flooding and poor drainage.
Answering a question in Parliament on February 27, Minister Swartz said the three contracts which were engaged to grade the road ended on January 31, 2014, while the next two contracts are expected to commence on April 1, 2014.
Member of Parliament for Okavango, Mr Bagalatia Arone had asked the minister if he was aware that during the rainy season, the Mohembo/Gudigwa Road was impassable as it developed some deep water ponds.
The minister was also asked to state what he was doing to ensure that the road is maintained. ENDS
