BAC LEA sign deal
02 Mar 2014
The Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) and Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would foster capacity building and skills development by allowing BAC students to serve attachment with LEA.
Speaking at the signing of the MoU in Gaborone, LEA chief executive officer, Mr Tebogo Matome said the collaboration would assist in capacity building of LEA clients and allow BAC students to serve attachments with LEA.
Mr Matome said LEA, as the steward of Small and Medium Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), had been struggling in introducing necessary systems in areas such as accounting and records keeping thus he hoped that the students’ attachment would benefit LEA on such areas.
He also said students would be able to exercise their theoretical knowledge into practicality of business. As such, he said BAC would be able to produce well-grounded graduates ready for market and those with entrepreneurship skills.
For his part, the executive director of BAC, Mr Michael Lesolle said the event marked a turning point for the university and emphasised commitment towards capacity building by both BAC and LEA.
Mr Lesolle stressed that the collaboration would advance BAC students platform for internship and grant LEA clientele knowledge. The partnership, he said would enhance the careers and employability of the BAC undergraduates. “I am confident that both undergraduates and graduates would benefit from the initiative,” he said.
