Jwaneng taxi operators improve service delivery

Jwaneng taxi operators have been applauded for improved service delivery.
Speaking to BOPA recently, the Jwaneng transport inspector, Mr Kealeboga Tshwene said the relationship between taxi operators and their clients seemed to be improving as evidenced by the reduced number of complaints recorded.
He noted that since beginning of the year, they had not received any complaints from customers as compared to three which were recorded last year, in which customers were allegedly mistreated.
Furthermore, Mr Tshwene noted that the increase in the number of operating taxis from 35 last year to 55 this year could be one of the contributing factors for improved service delivery in the transport industry.
He said even though applications for combi licenses were welcome, they had not received any applications to this effect. This, he noted, could probably be due to the fact that Jwaneng was a small town and taxis had already made the market saturated.
He also said the existence of the Jwaneng Taxi Association also contributed a lot in ensuring that taxi operators abode by the stipulated rules and regulations. He commended the taxi association for its efforts in keeping a peaceful environment between taxi operators and customers.
“We only intervene when the need arises and help solve the issue at hand,” he explained. He however, noted that reported cases were taken highly and both parties were reconciled and where necessary action was taken against taxi operators.
He said after deliberation, if found guilty a taxi operator could befined between P400 and P800. ENDS
