Reaching and surpassing one million hours without a lost time injury in a construction environment demonstrates commitment to the zero harm principle of the mine, according to Jwaneng Mine's mining senior manager.
Mr Rory Greyvensteyn applauded the mine workers for their commitment to the zero harm principle during the celebration of one million hours man without injury for the Modular Tailings Treatment Plant (MTTP).
“I would like to thank all our contractors and all the people who contributed towards this huge achievement”, he said. He applauded the workers and the management of the mine for being cooperative adding that they should always ensure that they were safe within the mining environment as well as at their homes.
Mr Greyvensteyn explained that commitment to safety should not only be taken heed in the MTTP construction site but also in the entire workplace and the environment in and outside the mine.
In addition to this, the group health and safety manager, Mr Scott Coulter encouraged the miners to continue to adhere and demonstrate commitment to safety despite the highly dangerous work they do on a daily basis.
When giving the closing remarks, the senior project manager Mr Moleko Majaha said though the project construction was a hazardous job, they would continue striving for excellence where safety was concerned.
He added that the aim was to have no incidents if not minimal throughout the project. ENDS
