Bamalete Lutheran Hospital Receives Life Saving Donation

06 Mar 2026

It was an early Christmas gift for the Bamalete Lutheran Hospital as the institution received a lifesaving medical machinery from the Taung Village Development Committee on March 5.

Receiving the gift on behalf of the hospital, Gamalete District Council chairperson, Mr Matlhomola Motsage said the hospital’s operations were affected due to reduced funding from government coffers.

He said the donation of an Automated External Defibrillator would go a long way in benefitting the Gamalete community and Batswana at large.

Bamalete Lutheran Hospital Board chairperson, Ms Joyce Sengate said the hospital was faced with operational challenges because of financial constraints and delayed disbursement of the subvention fund.

She said they were currently using absolute machinery, which threatened the hospitals’ ability to maintain efficient service delivery.

Ms Sengate said they had engaged on resource mobilisation through initiatives such as community engagements and the donation by Taung VDC was one of the commendable gestures.

The Automated External Defibrillator is a battery-operated medical device designed to treat sudden cardiac arrest by analysing the heart’s rhythm and delivering an electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat. ENDS
