Women have been encouraged to venture into the business of property ownership and management instead of nurturing and watching their male counterparts as they run such businesses.

Speaking at the first Miss Millennium high tea event at the Millennium Restaurant in Mogoditshane, an urban planning and Real Estate expert, Ms Ontlametse Mogofu, said women should not allow fear to hold them back.

Ms Mogofu, who is also managing director of 360* Events Affairs, said women as naturally genius and compassionate, were able to nurture their male counterparts to venture into property investment while they remain behind.

“Women have interest but they have fear, they lack confidence and knowledge,” she said, adding that women should do research and network to get knowledge on how to venture into one of the most male dominated yet rewarding property investment.

She highlighted that women could develop their already existing Motshelo model into a property orientated investment. Commenting, one journalist, Ms Ruth Kedikilwe, said although women were still marginalised and victimised, the 21st century women were fortunate to have careers and had a say in imperative matters such as sexual reproduction issues.

The high tea event was organised by the annual Miss Millennium pageant organisers to bring women of different calibre together to share issues affecting women as well as to motivate the upcoming Miss Millennium 2014 contestants.

One of the organisers of Miss Millennium Pageant, Ms Zenzele Hirschfield, of Zen Promotions, said the seventh annual Miss Millennium 2014 would be held at the Millennium Jazz Restaurant on March 15th and that Savanna Dry from Distell continues to sponsor the event.

The event was braced by instrumental women in Botswana such as actress Ms Kgomotso Tshwenyego, jazz icon Ms Nnunu Ramogotsi, Ms Masego Leepile of Beno society; a charity organisation, former Ms Millennium queens, among others. ENDS
