Cybersecurity Awareness National Priority

The Government is committed to ensuring that cybersecurity awareness remains a national priority aimed at strengthening the country's cyber resilience.

This was revealed by Assistant Minister of Communications and Innovation, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign in Gaborone on Thursday.

Building a strong national cyber culture, the assistant minister said, was key to protecting every citizen.

He also noted that the newly enacted Cybersecurity Bill represented a major step by the government in shaping the nation’s digital future.

The campaign was themed: Building Cyber Resilience for Now And for the Future, which Mr Ntlhaile said underscored the urgenbt need to safeguard against cyber threats in today’s increasingly digital world.

The Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign was officially launched by the Minister of Communications and Innovation, Mr David Tshere on October 6 and featured activities such as hackathons and webinars for youth and professionals, as well as kgotla-based education for elders.

The activities also included child online protection debates by learners from Mogoditshane, Ledumang, and Gaborone senior secondary schools.

He thanked all partners for their collaboration and support, as well as the schools that participated in the campaign activities. ENDS
