Jindal Energy Botswana Donates school uniforms

Jindal Energy Botswana has donated 2 503 school inform worth more than P800 000 to primary schools in Palla Road, Dovedale, Mookane, Mmphashalala as well as Mookane Junior Secondary School .
Speaking at an occasion to hand over the uniform to the schools recently in Palla Road, Assistant Minister for State President and also the Member of Parliament for Gaborone Bonnington North, Ms Maipelo Mophuting said the gift was not just a mere piece of cloth but something that would give the pupils a hope, confidence, dignity and a sense of belonging.
Ms Mophuting said with the uniform, Jindal had extended a comforting hand to many children and families, a gesture the government was grateful for. She said the initiative was close to her heart because those who will receive it would now be walking taller, smiling wider and daring to dream bigger because someone believed in them.
A school uniform carries a powerful meaning, of equal-ness and belonging to a part of a family called school, Ms Mophuting said. She said a child without a proper school uniform would feel different, excluded or even ashamed, but with the right uniform they would focus on learning rather than worrying.
Ms Mophuting said it was initiatives like these that demonstrated what the business community, and government could achieve when they joint forces, to shape the destiny of the young people.
She encouraged learners to consider the gift as a symbol of possibility and wear it with pride, reminding them to respect their teachers, listen to their parents and above all, work hard in their studies. Ms Mophuting thanked the Jindal for choosing a project that spoke to the heart of the community.
Member of Parliament for Mahalapye East and also Assistant Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Mr Augustine Nyatanga said he had seen the pain of children going to school wearing torn uniform.
He said some ended up quitting and giving up on their dreams because others made fun of them. But with this kind of support, he said their hope would be restored and performance improved.
Jindal Energy Botswana country director and project head, Mr Neeraj Saxena said the company through its corporate social responsibility was committed to improving health and education as well as women empowerment in the four villages.
Mr Saxena said last year, Jindal donated medical equipment, 6 600 textbooks and supported women employment among others. He also said Jindal had employed 1 800 and 300 of those were from the four villages. ENDS
