Mokgware commends donors humanitarian initiative

Shiv Charitable Society and Bank of Baroda have been commended for their unwavering dedication, partnership and service to the community of Gabane/Mmankgodi constituency. 

Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Major General Pius Mokgware applauded the entities  in Gabane recently at an eye camp and charity project by Shiv Charitable Society, a noble initiative meant to serve the community and those in need. The society also donated 10 wheel chairs and food hampers to members of the community. 

He said the gesture did not only reflected the enduring spirit of service to the community, but also deepened bonds of humanity between donors and government. 

Maj. Gen. Mokgware urged Gabane/Mmankgodi residents to embrace the goodwill gesture as it reaffirmed the donors’ stance as compassionate corporate citizens. 

Bank of Baroda managing director, Mr Sanjay Joshi said the bank was always pleased to extend a helping hand to the community in times of need.

 “This initiative is not merely an act of giving, it is a reaffirmation of our bank’s enduring commitment to social responsibility, inclusiveness and the well-being of the people we serve. We believe that our success as a bank is deeply connected with the prosperity and dignity of communities around us,” he said. 

Mr Joshi said Bank of Baroda was not only in the business of banking, but also involved in building lives, nurturing hope and enabling change. 

He said they were partners in nation building, a bridge between aspiration and opportunities and were also a catalyst for social transformation.

 “In that spirit our commitment extends beyond financial services to nurturing the fabric of communities we serve. The donation of wheelchairs aims to enhance mobility, independence and quality of life for individuals with special physical needs. It is our small contribution towards ensuring that every member of society enjoys equal opportunity to live with dignity,” he said. 

Mr Joshi said his organisation would continue to find ways to make a meaningful contribution that uplifted lives and built a more inclusive society.

 Deputy High Commissioner to the Indian High Commission to Botswana, Mr Anandamay Baidya said the Shiv charitable society’s efforts and achievements were impressive as the donation marked their seventh free eye check-up camp throughout Botswana benefitting over 2 500 people and distributing more than 1 000 spectacles.

 Chairperson of the Shiv charitable society, Mr Umesh Sharma said the society was a non-profit entity that had been into charity projects for the past 15 years. 

He said they contributed towards the country’s socioeconomic development by conducting voluntary charity projects as part of their CSR initiatives. 

Mr Sharma said they were dedicated towards upliftment of many underprivileged sections of society and gave hope by providing support for anyone to rise with dignity. ENDS
