Mascom 3 - for - 3 campaign gifts SESAD

The Ramotswa based South East Sport Association for the Disabled (SESAD) received a shot in the arm on Saturday morning when they benefited from the Mascom’s 3-for-3 campaign.
Mascom, through Mascom’s 3-for-3, a staff-led initiative where employees dedicate three hours of their time to community projects donated solar energy equipment to SESAD as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.
Handing over the donation Mascom’s procurement officer, Motshidisi Motshewa said the naming of the initiative paid homage to the three Batswana chiefs, namely Khama III, Sebele I and Bathoen I who through their visionary leadership helped to secure Botswana’s future. Motshewa said Mascom was guided by three pillars of gratitude, service, and community movement with an aim to inspire the citizenry of the country to dedicate some time and efforts to create a lasting impact on society.
Coordinator of the center, Tidimalo Monggae applauded efforts from their different stakeholders and called for more action to empower people with disabilities. She said SESAD, a registered Non-Profit Organisation dedicated to promoting sports and recreation for persons living with disabilities within the South East District.
Monggae said the centre was established to cater for sporting need of those differently abled but later added components such as recreational facilities, a park, a community hall, poultry and a horticultural project. Monggae said they nearly became dysfunctional but due to concerted efforts from the office of the district commissioner and other good Samaritan the centre was resuscitated.
Acting district commissioner, Dr Patrick Ramocha applauded Mascom for bringing social support to those in need which would go a long way in presenting equal opportunities for those disadvantaged physically. He called on all stakeholders to establish a culture of inclusion which would then accommodate diversity.
He said people with disabilities had dreams and all the rights to thrive and said they needed support to make their dreams come true. For his part Gamalete Deputy Paramount Chief Kgosi Tsimane Mokgosi said people with disabilities had to enjoy services and have access to all amenities enjoyed by every citizen. He said their needs and aspirations had to be respected and they should be empowered to run their affairs. ENDS
