Makgato-Malesu appreciates school visit

11 Feb 2014

Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Dorcas Makgato-Malesu says her visit to Francistown Senior Secondary School has enabled her to understand some of the issues and challenges that the school faces.

In an interview after closed meetings that the minister had with school management, teachers, Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) as well as the students over the weekend, she said although she could not reveal the issues discussed, she was happy that the issues were factual.

Ms Makgato-Malesu said her visit was part of the overview of government facilities’ current status and identification of areas of potential improvement.

According to a statement from the Botswana Government Communication and Information System (BGCIS), the initiative of ministers visiting public facilities arose because of the feedback received by the President and ministers during interactions with government departments, kgotla meetings and other public interactions.

The statement said after touring schools, ministers would also visit health facilities and all the visits were aimed at reflecting the government’s commitment to effective service delivery throughout the nation.

Ms Makgato-Malesu was also scheduled to visit Mater Spei College the same day. ENDS
