People Data Africa conference coming
02 Jun 2025
People and Data Africa (PDA) will hold its 2nd Annual People and Data Africa Conference from June 25 to 26 in Gaborone. A press release from PDA says the conference aims to position data and research as central tools for inclusive, community-driven development across the continent.
Attendees include a diverse group of stakeholders such as development practitioners, private sector representatives, policymakers, researchers, academic institutions, funders, and monitoring and evaluation specialists. The goal is to facilitate dialogue, collaboration, and actionable insights to empower youth and under-resourced communities with research-backed and data-informed solutions.
“When organisations and communities understand the value of research and data, and work collaboratively, they enable innovation, accelerate change, unlock socio-economic growth drivers, and ultimately drive social impact,” stated Ms Tuduetso Mokgosi, Founder of People + Data Africa.
“We invite public and private sector organisations to partner with us to make this year’s conference a platform for transformative impact across Africa,” she added.
The statement mentioned that this year’s conference has support of both the Office of the President and the Ministry of Communications and Innovation. The endorsement highlights the national and continental significance of inclusive research and data in driving development.
The support further bolsters the conference’s mission to cultivate a data culture that prioritises youth and community empowerment as essential components of sustainable and inclusive socio-economic progress. Additionally, the 2025 edition features dynamic case study presentations, panel discussions, interactive exhibitions, and targeted networking opportunities. Key panelists will cover topics such as the Importance of Inclusive Research & Data, Intelligent Community Work, Data to Empower Africa’s Greatest Asset – Youth, and Collaborations for the Future.
Embracing the call for collaboration, PDA2025 is collaborating with AnalyticX (South Africa), The Luminous Agency (Switzerland & Democratic Republic of Congo), and Business Botswana (Botswana) to enhance the impact of the event. This theme: Transforming Africa’s Communities through Inclusive Research + Data. ENDS
