09 Feb 2014

The Central district is preparing for a poverty eradication workshop scheduled for Jamataka from February 27 until March 1.

Five constituencies, namely, Boteti South and North, Nkange, Tonota north and Nata/Gweta would participate in the poverty eradication workshop.

In an interview, Tutume Sub-district senior assistant council secretary, Mr Lawrence Madzinyane said the nine committees tasked with preparing for the workshop were doing well as far as the preparations were concerned.

Mr Madzinyane said the road leading to the workshop venue and grounds had been graded and urged all departments to donate their resources where applicable. “We are expecting 1 000 beneficiaries and 250 public employees,” he noted.

The logistics committee chairperson, Mr Bashi Mokatane said the layouts had been approved, but they encountered some challenges due to heavy rainfall in the area. On issues of fuel, he said they would ensure that there would be enough.

He said on the issue of waste, the waste management team had managed to arrange six skips, adding that they were not enough and that they had made requests to relevant authorities to loan them some.

Mr Mokatane further requested the health and safety team to assist with plastic waste containers and chemicals to be used inside the toilets.

He also requested labourers from other departments to assist on the day of pitching the tents, adding that the advance team was already on site until the last day. Furthermore, he urged all in the committees to join hands and work together as a team to achieve their common goal. ENDS
