Goodhope development projects on track - Nkwane

The Output and Performance Based Road Contract package 2 project which consists of three Lots is reported to be going well in the Goodhope district.
Speaking during the ongoing full council session which commenced yesterday, the Goodhope council chairperson, Mr Gofaone Nkwane said the projects for package 2 Lot 1, which commenced on October 19th 2023 was well underway and progressing well.
“The process on this project is on schedule, with an overall completion rate of 84 per cent,” he said.
The project scope includes the construction of Goodhope-Kgoro-Gathwane road and its access roads covering 174,3 km. Mr Nkwane said the project, which was awarded to Steelbase at a sum of over P456 million, was expected to be completed on October 2026 inclusive of a 12 month defect liability.
Package 2 Lot 2, which includes the design and construction of access roads such as Rakhuna- Sheepfarm via Ngwatsau, Malokaganyane-Sheepfarm and Dinatshana-Pitsane Potlokwe among others, totaling 57,7 km is at 35 per cent completion rate.
Mr Nkwane said the works commenced in April 2024 and was expected to be completed in April 2027, adding that it was slightly behind schedule by two per cent. The contract was awarded to Tau Grading at the sum of over P653 million.
Meanwhile, package 2 Lot 3, which involves completion of monitoring consultant’s office and houses at Goodhope was awarded to LG Engineering at the tune of slightly over P12 million and the overall progress is at 85 per cent.
The council chairman pointed out that some of the planned projects for this financial year included the Mmathethe-Bray-Werda road. He said the surveying works for this road were currently underway while Sekhutlhane-Mabule road had been awarded to Van and Truck Hire.
Moreover, Mr Nkwane said the water supply situation in the district had not yet stabilised as Water Utilities Cooperation (WUC) had been facing challenges particularly in the areas benefiting from the augmentation of the North-South Carrier (NSC) water supply. He however said the repairs have been successfully completed even though WUC was still awaiting supply from NSC for full benefit. ENDS
