Mokaila attends mining indaba

The Minister of Minerals Energy and Water Resources, Mr Kitso Mokaila left for Cape Town, South Africa on February 2, to attend the Mining Indaba Conference.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Minerals Energy and Water Resources, the Mining Indaba Conference was one of the strategic international conferences that the minister was using to engage the international mining community and investors.

While in Cape Town, the minister will have a bilateral meeting with the Parliamentary Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry from Japan, Mr Yoshihiko Isozaki. The meeting will discuss, among others, ongoing cooperation between the governments of Botswana and Japan in the mineral and energy sectors.

He will also meet a number of industry executives operating in Botswana and other potential investors. Mining Indaba conference usually attracts over 7800 individuals representing about 1500 international companies from 100 countries.

It is normally attended by mining analysts, fund managers, investment specialists and financiers. The conference will be entering its 20th year. The minister is expected back home on  Thursday. ENDS
