Services of 24 hour clinic with maternity wing, are critical to improving health care services for Tsetsebjwe residents and those in nearby villages, Tsetsebjwe village, Kgosi Peter Phole said.
He made the request for a 24 hours clinic recently during a Kgotla meeting addressed by the Minister of State President, Mr Moeti Mohwasa, Minister of Trade and Entrepreneur Mr Tiroeaone Ntsima as well as the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr Keoagile Atamelang.
He said the 24 hour clinic will address the urgent health needs of the community, particularly for women and children, ensuring that they receive timely and comprehensive antennal and post natal medical care.
“Currently the village’s only health care centre operates on limited hours, this create barriers for patients in need of medical assistance, especially during the night-time emergencies. The absence of the maternity wing despite the large populace of the village force expecting mothers to travel long distances to Selibe Phikwe and Bobonong to access the services, and this usually happens often under risky conditions,” he said.
The plea for improved healthcare comes on the heels of several disturbing incidents where some pregnant women face delivery complications while others deliver at home without medical interventions.
For his part, The Minister of State President, Mr Moeti Mohwasa said government was resolute in a promise to build 100 000 house of affordable homes. He said he was hopeful that the exercise will address some of the challenges of lack of accommodation for civil servants in different parts of the country.
He added that the construction of house will also be an empowerment means to local contractors to be engaged.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr Keoagile Atamelang expressed disappointment by local contractors that fail to adhere to stipulated handover of projects time frame, adding this does not only affect developmental mandate by the government, but also tarnished contractors badly.
Minister of Trade and Entrepreneur Mr Tiroeaone Ntsima encouraged residents to try luck in farming since the area was renowned for its high quality agricultural activities. ENDS
