Small businesses reap big in Kanye during festive

07 Jan 2025

The 2024/2025 festive period was a season filled with profits, growth, and inspiring stories for small businesses in Kanye. The festive season brought a welcome boost to Kanye’s small businesses, proving that resilience, innovation, and hard work continue to drive growth, even in the face of challenges such as persistent rains.

At just 23 years, Mr Tumelo Seatlholo, owner of Custom World, shared his excitement over his festive season success. “I’m thrilled with the sales and profits,” he said, attributing his motivation to his late friend, Mr Rotlhe Moletsane, who had a deep love for the arts.

Mr Seatlholo said he sourced high-quality plain T-shirts from Chinese shops and art materials from Art Tswana.

He urged aspiring entrepreneurs to venture into  the art industry, advising them to start small and persevere despite challenges. “I have been in the arts for over five years, and it is  a journey of patience and passion,” Mr Seatlholo shared.

Mr Lepang Letsapa of Kanye Taxi Services said it was another profitable festive season, despite persistent rains. “We transported people from malls to festival venues without incidents or conflicts,” he said, noting that the season unfolded without major challenges.

Mr Tsala Tidi, a small business owner near OK Furniture, reflected on his journey from hairdressing in 2020 to co-running a thriving clothing and accessories venture with his partner, Ms Grace Senthufe.

“December 24th and 31st are our busiest days, with customers shopping at the last minute,” he said.

This year, their stock of shoes and bags sold out quickly. “The festive season is always a boom for us, though heavy rains posed a challenge,” said Mr Tidi. ENDS
