Vivo Energy Botswana spent most of last week assisting customers in Moshupa after a problem was discovered in one of three products - unleaded 93 petrol.
Motorists who fueled at Moshupa Filling station from January 18, had expressed dissatisfaction with the product. Their vehicles were smoking and some failed to start the engine while others were powerless.
Vivo Energy Botswana managing director, Mr Wayne Kingwill, said in interview that the product had been submitted for analysis and testing, adding that the filing station continued to operate with the other two remaining products.
Mr Kingwill said VIVO Energy believed the customer was the most important component in their business, hence the investigation. He said they had the details of every affected customer and were assisting them accordingly.
He stated that records showed all quality certifications, controls and checks from the supply source in South Africa to the site in Moshupa were intact. A full investigation of the site was underway including the planned analysis of samples of fuels extracted.
The problem was limited to one product in one site while Vivo Energy Botswana operates in excess of 70 sites in the country, he said. He also said Vivo Energy Botswana would undertake site equipment tests that is pumps and tanks to ensure the full integrity of the products, and that equipment adhered to Shell’s Global requirement regarding fuels quality as well as Health, Safety, Security and Environment Standards.
He noted Vivo Energy Botswana was distributed and marketed Shell-branded fuels and lubricants. It was established in 2012. Vivo Energy Botswana operates 71 Retail sites and also has a commercial business. ENDS
