Roman Catholic to open pastoral centre

26 Jan 2014

The Roman Catholic Church will, on March 1, hold a blessing launch and official opening of its newly built pastoral centre, which is located in gaborone's Game City Mall.

The church's spokesman Father Godiraone Makgetla said this in an interview recently. He said the structure, called Ave Maria was built at a cost of around P40 million and will serve as a prayer centre and a conference centre for various church groups such as St. Anna, Sacred Heart and Solidarity of St Mary.

He added that the church groups visiting the centre would be expected to pay a small fare, not equivalent to market hotel fares, to be used for maintenance and up-keeping of the centre.

“The centre will be used as a training centre for catechists and a conference centre for the various catholic groups,” he said.  Father Makgetla revealed that the centre boasts of three mini-conference rooms, one main conference room, 96 accommodation rooms, kitchen and dining hall, four offices and a chapel.

“The centre offers three en-suite rooms for dignitaries while other rooms are two beds. The pastoral centre also has a big statue of Mary,” he said. ENDS
